All the Light from To See the Stars
The Corvus Ensemble

"All That Light" is from "To See The Stars," a song cycle for chamber ensemble examining the history of astronomy, and telling the story of the irrepressible human desire to come into closer contact with celestial bodies.

"All that Light" is about the dream of astronomer Edwin Hubble. Going beyond the atmosphere was what Hubble sought; that’s what the telescope named for him did. In “All That Light” , the subject of light and its relationship to humanity is explored. Carl Sagan said “We are star stuff.” Neil de Grasse Tyson respins it: “We are stardust.” The answers to what we are can be found, literally, in the light.
